The Westford Land Preservation Foundation, Inc. (WLPF) is a non-profit organization whose mission is to preserve land in Westford so it may be enjoyed by present and future generations.
Founded in 2001, WLPF works with local landowners to provide them with options other than full development when it is time to think about what will happen to their family-owned land.
When feasible, WLPF will work with landowners to achieve their goals, whether it is maximizing a financial return, preserving their land, or a combination of both, while preserving at least a portion of their land forever.
WLPF is managed by a board of directors who have expertise in law, land development, public relations, conservation issues, local government, and real estate.
Our Projects
Our first project in 2005 was to raise private funds and do community education to preserve East Boston Camps and encourage Town Meeting to expend Community Preservation Act Funds to keep it open. Our board holds the Conservation Restriction on those 287 acres. We next negotiated with the Laughton family and builder Kirk Ware to reduce the number of house lots on Gray Fox Lane and preserve 13 acres as open space along Stony Brook. Then in 2012 we worked with worked with the voters of Westford and the Sudbury Valley Trustees to purchase a Conservation Restriction on the 23-acre O’Brien Farm in Parker Village.
Our current project is to purchase a Conservation Restriction on the 51-acre Salt Box Farm off Hildreth Street in Westford Center.
